My father and I have been working on a 1984 Mercury Capri RS. It's been a work in progress for over 15 years. My dad and grandfather took the engine out by manpower, and it was rebuilt when I was 4/5 years old. A few years later (9-12) we , well he, did body work to the car. He cut the sunroof out because of the rust that had accumulated and currently, she sits in a primer, which we were told by numerous people he did a fantastic job at. Additionally, he molded a body kit to it and the car looks even all around. All it needs is the sunroof, paint and give or take a few performance parts (that are much needed). We're still restoring it!
(This was at our old basement, as we still currently rent).
P.S. My dad bought this car from his older Brother in his 20's and it had numerous engine problems (hence the engine rebuild). He has since kept it and it will be passed down in the family.
It has been a work in progress for a while, as my dad is currently the sole supporter of our 5 member family. We still even have the stickers from 2003 still on the plates as it was the last year the car was on the road. A day before it was to go in for the roof, My father, Mother and Myself were hit by a drunk driver. Needless to say, the car has been put on hold, but whenever I get a chance to buy parts, I do and we have a few parts around waiting...
